Photos of Hurricane Charlie on August 13, 2004.

Photos above show views of hurricane Charlie rolling in about 5:00 PM from the condos we were staying in just south of Ft. Myers, FL., (Pix taken by a friend who stayed there).

In the photo at left, the trailer park next door to the condos is visible just as the storm came in. Charlie made mince-meat out of the park, tossing trailers around and tearing off many roofs (center photo). At right is the condo we stayed in - minor damage, primarily to the screened in porches and hurricane shutters.

Views out the windows from Robert's in Lakeland as the hurricane eye (still at Category 2) passed just to our east. The wind gusted to 75 MPH, but damage was fairly minor (branchs, some trees down, etc.) compared to other areas. Arcadia, a town to the southeast, saw significant damage with 100 MPH winds. The town's water tower was even blown over.

Views along I-75 from our car near Punta Gorda where eye crossed.
