Mickey Graphia's 429 Convertibles
I have been searching for, tracking, and following 429 Mustang Convertibles since 1977. I ran numerous wanted ads over the years in publications from Hemmings to large news papers like Houston, Los Angeles & Atlanta. I have located twelve convertibles to date. I first located my blue car around 1978 when it was for sale in Kansas for $2000! Four owners and one restoration later I purchased it in 2001. It is a J code 4-speed with a 3:50 traction lok. First located my red car in 1990. It was advertised in 1991 Hemmings in the low 40's, yes $40,000! I thought the owner was crazy at the time. It was in Mass. It then went to San Antonio. In 2000, I negotiated a price with the executor of an estate for several months but was outbid by Rick Thompson. I bought it about two weeks later from Rick. It is a J code, SCJ, Auto and has never been restored. It still sports 100% factory paint, interior and top. The paint is fantastic and much better than in these pictures. I replaced the tires and side pipes (yes, installed by the original owner) with a stock exhaust.
