Tie Down Brackets

Two tiedown brackets were bolted to the frame just below the rear bumper and were a tiedown bracket for the car during shipping. Based on research todate, this is our best shot at the applications for these; The "Short" ones at left were most likely used on 71 - 72 Mustangs with single exhaust. There were two "Long" versions (as shown above), a Straight and an Angled. We believe the Straight were used on 73 Mustangs with single exhaust. The Angled ones were most likely used on 71 - 73 Mustangs with dual exhaust so the tiedown chains wouldn't damage the chrome tips. This page info will be updated if additional  information is discovered. Installed views of Long Angled version are below.

Motor Mounts

The 429 Mustang/Cougar motor mount assembly was made up of three pieces -  a Frame Mount, an Insulator, and a Block Mount.

A word about the 351 C Mustang Frame Mount

We often get asked if the 351 C Mustang frame mount is the same as the 429 Mustang frame mount. The answer is NO. The top surface of the 351 frame mount is just a little bit taller than the 429 frame mount. This taller height will prevent the 429 insulator from dropping down far enough to properly line up with the thru-bolt holes as shown in the photo below;

Insulators

The Insulator is the intermediate piece between the Frame Mount and the Block Mount. It consists of two metal plates with an insulating rubber mount in between. An installed view to the Block Mount is shown below. A long thru-bolt secures the Insulator to the Frame Mount.
